Over 2009/10 the Group has been examining the work of Spanish Artists, especially during the Golden Age, from El Greco to Salvador Dali, including Diego Velazquez, Bartolome Murillo, Francisco Goya, Antoni Gaudi, Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro and others. We also combined some European social and political history.

We are a friendly, sociable Group and enjoy discussions, watching films of various artists and listening to presentations or anecdotes from group members.

Last year we formed a second Art Appreciation group at the Friends’ Meeting House due to the number of people interested. This will continue if the numbers warrant it.

From autumn 2010 we propose exploring Dutch artists covering, at least, Hieronymous Bosch, Peter Paul Rubens, Frans Hals, Anthony van Dyke, Rembrandt, Vermeer and Vincent van Gogh.

The Thursday group alternates with the Music Appreciation group.
