This short course assumes no prior knowledge.  It is a practical course and members will benefit greatly by doing the follow-up work each week, so access time on a computer at home, or in a library, or Age UK etc between classes will be necessary. Those with laptops should bring them to use in the classes. Expect to work in groups of two or three, depending how many laptops are available.
The following topics may be covered, according to how members' skills develop, what they want and the time available:

• Controlling the mouse, finding your keys etc
• Using your computer safely and securely
• Sending and receiving e-mail, including attachments
• Downloading free programs and setting them up
• Creating letters, posters and other documents
• Searching for information on the Internet
• Internet commerce, holidays and banking
• Video phoning using Skype
• Facebook, Twitter and other social networks.
