Brighton & Hove University of the Third Age
The group meets monthly to cover some basic human biology and health education topics. We will study some of our main body organs and systems, their anatomy (what they look like) and physiology (the job they do).
We are all now much more conscious of the need to take responsibility for our own health, and doctors are more aware of the need to discuss our health care with us. The classes are not intended to address your individual health issues – but I hope they will make it a little easier for you to understand them.
No prior knowledge of biology is needed as we will start at a basic beginner’s level. The classes will be on a different topic each time, but they will build on the knowledge gained as we go through the year. For returning class members it is a chance to repeat some classes, catch up on ones you missed, and sample new topics that will be added to the programme this year.
Body Basics will have monthly sessions running from October to June. Classes will be two hours each month, with a coffee break. Come and give it a try!
